The Dream
A Vision of CLA by Pastor Wayde in the fall of 2007
I dream of a church where every Christian is color-blind. Where the faces of the family look like heaven – ‘every nation, tribe, people and language’.
I dream of a church where old people and young people and everyone in–between stand side-by-side; hands raised in honor of the One who died to save us. Undivided by musical preferences, clothing styles or other things that really don’t matter to God.
I dream of a church where those on the inside make those outside the family feel welcome and wanted.
I dream of a place where people laugh and rejoice and cry together. Where people win and lose together. Where people believe in each other even when we fail; especially when we fail. Where people are honest about their flaws because they know God can help anyone who admits they need it.
I dream of a place where grown ups can forget about ‘image’ and burdens and the pressures of life and feel like a child again – free and full of hope in the presence of Jesus.
I dream of a place where relationships are more important than rules; where people come before church politics.
I dream of a place where lives are changed by the power of God. Where faith is everywhere and sacrifice is always on display and lives are put back together again. I dream of a church where physical, emotional and relational miracles take place. A place where people go when the doctor/counselor says, “There’s nothing else we can do,” and God does something about it.
I dream of place where people get over themselves so we can go on with God. A place where there’s so much love that people who don’t have it want some of it. A place where broken people living in a broken world can get glimpses of heaven on earth.
I’m talking about the Church of Jesus Christ. It’s not perfect because we’re in it but Jesus loved it so much He gave His life for it. And some day He’s coming back for it, like a Bridegroom coming for His bride. So let’s lay down our pride and prejudice at the foot of the cross and show the world what it looks like to be the Family of God!
