Health Ministry
The earliest stories of the Christian tradition reveal the central role of love and compassion as distinguishing marks of the church. We look to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ and find multiple ways to show this compassion within our congregation. The mission of our Health Ministry is to promote comprehensive health stewardship of our members by integrating the physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of their lives. Our Health Ministry began in the fall of 2000, when Liz Fite, RN, became part of our staff.
What Our Health Ministry Does For You
Blood Pressure Screenings
Monthly blood pressure screenings are offered the first Sunday of each month in the Health Ministry office Room 300. The screening times are 8:00 - 8:40 am and 10:00 - 10:25 AM. Our medical professionals are eager to assist our members in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Annual Blood Drive
Our annual blood drive in March is provided by the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank here at the church. Our annual quota of 117 units is always met. If you are a member of Christian Life Assembly, and are in need of blood, you and your extended family are eligible to receive free blood through our blood bank. For more information, access www.centralpennblood.org.
Emergency First Aid Coverage
First aid coverage is provided by our health care professionals for all Sunday morning services and drama performances. We have an Emergency Response Plan and equipment in place to provide basic first aid. We also have a Life Pak CR Plus AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on site. This equipment was bought by the generous donations of our members. If such an emergency would arise, we have a good resource of certified professionals ready to provide care until the EMS arrives.
Caring Calls
Calls are made to all members before and after any scheduled surgeries, hospitalizations, to all "new" moms and needs made known through our prayer requests cards by Liz Fite, RN. We have a team of health care professionals that are active in various specialties within the medical field. As the specialty need arises, these professionals are called upon to provide health counsel to the member in need.
Bereavement Care
Bereavement care is provided to all church members who have lost an immediate family member for the first year of grief. This loving support is done through special cards, letters, and appropriate care notes every three months when appropriate.
Health Education
Health education is provided through various modalities. Our event information displays are located in the main lobby outside sanctuary doors 103 and 104 and feature free educational information supporting the monthly Health and Wellness article written by Liz Fite, RN, which is available on our web site.
Homebound Ministry
Our homebound ministry reaches out to our members who are no longer able to participate in the activities of our church due to medical issues. Foremost in our pastors’ hearts is the care for our body of believers. What a wonderful blessing it is to visit these members on a regular basis and have them share with us their spiritual journey and wisdom. Pastor Tom Britton gives oversight to this ministry which is coordinated by Liz Fite.
Support Group
Victory Seekers is a Bible-based, compassionate ministry that reaches out to those living with cancer and chronic illness.
