Homebound Ministry

Can you STAND to be BLESSED?

In the United States, there are more than 30,000 residential and skilled care facilities. Each day in America, thousands of seniors wake up to another day of loneliness, boredom, depression and feelings of abandonment. The care of our nation’s elderly is not the sole responsibility of the senior care industry; it is our responsibility as Christians.

What’s it like to be confined to your home, or a nursing home? What’s it like to be without anyone to visit you, to comb your hair or rub lotion on your hands, or give you a hug? Hugs not only help to enrich our lives but also bring a new sense of joy and fulfillment to people of all ages who provide them. What’s it like not to be able to come to church to worship and hear God’s word? What’s it like not to be able to bless someone by telling them of how God has shepherded you over the years?

There are many people within our congregation who are confined to their homes or to a special care home where they require assistance with their daily needs.  Can you stand to be blessed by them? There is a desperate need for these people, who have contributed so much to the life of our church, to be visited.  Would you be willing to call, write a short note or stop by for a short visit with one of these folks? Visitation is simple, free, not time consuming and best of all, so rewarding by the blessings that you will receive. Just think,  you may be the only contact someone has with the outside world. Don’t miss out on this blessing that is waiting to happen to you.

“A new command I give you: Love one another, as I have loved you. By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.” John 13: 34, 35.
