Between these few words lie the most dramatic visuals and story line ever experienced by man. The God who erected the universe set before us the most beautiful and perfect setting from which to live out our lives for His Purposes. He created merely by His spoken word. It is our challenge to reenact portions of His creation and story by means of set work, art work, lighting, solid scripts and proper casting. Because we do not have the ability to create as God does, we must develop our skills and gifts in practical ways to help bring to life visually what the writer of the piece we are doing saw in his mind.
This is what the Dramatic Arts Department of CLA is all about. Providing a forum for people called of God to develop that calling to its highest through this vital area of ministry. There are a number of opportunities presented throughout the year to invest your skills into. Easter Celebration, Christmas Wonderland and Celebrate America and just some of those opportunities. Whatever your time availability we have a place for you. Come be one of the hundreds of individuals who use the tool of drama to reach this community and beyond for Jesus Christ. Opportunities
Every year, two major evangelical outreaches are presented to the public: Easter Celebration and Christmas Wonderland. Our dramas are seen by thousands of people over the course of each live event date and have become holiday traditions in many community homes! These full-scale, musical productions involve hundreds of volunteers who dedicate their time, both on stage and behind the scenes. Come join brothers and sisters in Christ who share your desire to use their various talents to portray Christ’s message!
Cast Members
Begin your ministry to audiences of thousands by joining our 150+ cast! An information meeting and auditions are held at the start of each new production. Be sure to check the website for dates.
Child Care Workers
Serving in the kids’ green room or nursery enables you to change eternity in the heart of a child, while allowing parent cast and crew members to portray the life-changing messages in the productions.
Construction Crew
Build God’s Kingdom by joining our carpenters, electricians, plumbers and general construction workers in building sets and scenery pieces. This is a tremendous opportunity for those who are gifted in craftsmanship.
Hair Stylists & Make-Up Artists
Hair stylists and make-up artists work to ensure that the cast looks as authentic as possible. Join our team of fun, professional men and women.
Food Crew
By preparing food and serving the cast and crew, you can share the eternal rewards of reaching thousands with the Gospel!
Props Managers
Like shopping? Have an eye for design and good deals? Assist in shopping for props, and keeping our extensive collection of props and set pieces organized!
Set Artistry
Glorify God by painting sets and properties that forward His message. Volunteer skills may range from basic painting using rollers, to detailed brush work.
Stage Crew
You can help with scene changes during the productions, and assist with back-stage preparation of scenery and special effects.
Technicians
Sound, lighting, and special effects volunteers assist during rehearsals and performances in operating equipment and executing various technical effects.
Seamstresses & Dressers
Seamstresses begin their work months before productions open, helping to design, sew, fit and alter costumes. Dressers meet the cast as you assist actors with their costume changes during rehearsals and performances!
Animal Ministry
Fellow animal lovers unite! You can minister to tens of thousands each year by caring for animals that cheer shut-ins in nursing homes, delight children in hospitals, bring joy to local church fair-goers, and thrill audience members at CLA’s productions as we spread God’s message of Love!
