Questions
Finances
How is my trip funded?
We ask that participants raise all of the cost for their trip. Raising support offers a unique opportunity to friends and family. Just as you are building relationships with people in another country, your supporters invest in that same Kingdom work by giving financially. Those that support your trip become a vital part of your team.
What will be covered in the money ?
All transportation, lodging and food cost from the time you leave the states until you return home. Some of the money you raise will also cover some or all of the project cost.
You funds will also cover International / Domestic health insurance (which the church will process for you); however, it does NOT cover medical cost if you happen to get injured or sick in a US airport. It is imperative that you have your own health insurance.
Can I use Frequent Flyer miles to travel with the team?
Unfortunately no. The team needs to travel together, for the unity of the team and other liability reasons. If someone uses FF miles they are not guaranteed to be on the same flight with the team. If you provide us with your frequent flyer number, we can submit this information when booking your tickets so that you can receive credit towards your miles.
What if I have to back out of the trip after I have committed?
Once the plane tickets have been purchased, you are responsible for the price of your airline ticket. The $100 non-refundable deposit will go towards the cost of you ticket and you will need to reimburse the church for the balance of your ticket.
Where do my supporters send their checks and to whom should they be made payable?
Your supporters can make checks payable to Christian Life Assembly and give the check to you. Your supporter should write both your name and the outreach in the memo section of the check.
Trip Preparation
What type of time commitment should I expect in preparation for a trip?
Typically there are usually four to six team meetings. At these meetings we will be get to know each other and the specific project we will be encountering. At these meetings you will receive detailed information and we will answer your questions.

You need to apply for a passport now, before you are selected for a team. We have seen delays getting this required document. If you have questions regarding obtaining a passport contact the missions department for additional information
If I need a Visa, how do I get one?
If you need a visa for your trip, your team leader will take care of the appropriate forms.
How do I know what vaccinations I need?
You can find out what vaccination are required by the CDC at www.cdc.gov/travel. These are only recommendations. Your team leader will tell you which vaccination are important for your specific trip. You will also want to check with your health care provider to see what they provide and require. We require that everyone be current on his or her tetanus shot.
What will I be dong during my trip?
The activities, goals and focus will differ depending on the trip. Trip description can be found on our web site.
How am I covered with insurance while on the trip?
Depending on whether you are traveling on an international or domestic trip insurance is required. Domestic trips normally are covered by individual medical insurance. International trips you are required to purchase coverage. This cost is included in the price of your trip. However team insurance covers you from the moment you step on the plane until your return and step off on US soil.
Trip Application
How do I choose a trip?
There are a few ways to choose the right trip for you. We think people have the best experience when they are able to use their talents, skills and experiences. There are also trips that are great for people who are new to a missions experience. You may also consider choosing a trip based on the best time of year for you, or an area of the world where you feel connected. For example: Is there a place you love to read about, or study? Do you get excited and listen when a certain place is mentioned in the news?
Pray. Ask God for direction and confirmation as you consider this opportunity.
What is the age requirement to participate on a short-term trip?
Participants are usually adults. Youth who are in high school have opportunities to minister with these teams. Any questions please ask the missions department.
Who is selected for trips?
Each trip requires a different set of criteria in their applicants. It is important that we place people on trips that would be the best fit to meet the trip needs. This could include looking for people with specific skill set or experience or it may be a "newbie" trip where we want those who are new to the missions experience.
Do I have to be a member of CLA to go?
No. However, we do give those who are members or regular attendees' priority. Additionally, we do review the team list and reserve the right to refuse your application.
What happens to my application if I'm not chosen?
If you are not chosen, your application goes into a "waiting list". If a leader of another trip is still looking for people for that trip, they may contact you to see if you are interested.
Can I travel to another destination or stay longer at my destination?
No. Again, it is imperative to team unity and for liability reasons that everyone travels together.
